This post is part of my series 31 Days of Simply Writing. Every day for the month of October, I will be taking a one word prompt and writing for 5 minutes, similar to what I do for Five Minute Fridays. Today’s word is Wardrobe.
My wardrobe for Ren Fest is so heavy. When I joined, I had no idea how much actually goes into the costumes.
I have knee high socks, bloomers, underthings, a chemise (which is a sort of nightgown type shirt), a farthingale (or a hoop skirt), a kirtle (or an undergown), and an overdress, which is the main gown that you see when you look at the gown. And this particular gown has “wings” and sleeves that are detachable.
But then I have to have the right shoes, and a mug or goblet to drink out of. I have a period fan, and a period parasol (that broke). Hankercheifs, necklaces, rings, a crown, anything in my hair has to be from the right period. A metal bowl and spoon should the need arise, bags (that I’ve made), a basket to carry our tiaras to hand out.
It’s insane. I try not to sit down, because if I do, it’s hard to stand up. But I love it. I feel gorgeous. I am slowly starting to build my Ren Fest wardrobe. Maybe one day, I will have a whole closet full of dresses.
Oh! I can’t forget the most important part of my wardrobe. SPARKLES! It’s my favorite color.
P.S. Today, next Monday and Tuesday, and the Monday after that, my posts won’t be up in the morning (unless I schedule them), and they may not make any sense.
