First Meetings and First Feast

This post is part of a series about the Kansas City Renaissance Festival.  You can find the other posts here.

This will be a fairly quick post.  Before we ever had a full cast rehearsal, the members of the Royal Court met together.  As visiting princesses, my sisters and I were counted as members of the court.

The reason for the meeting was because the Royal Court provides a feast after the first full rehearsal for valued friends of the festival.  We had to make plans.  Plus is was a time to get to know each other a bit better.  We decided to sing the “Boleyn Rhapsody” and “My King,” our version of the “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “My Guy.”

The First Feast was very interesting.  There were around 15 people invited but only around 10-12 showed up.  I know now that it was two former queens, the captain of the Romani, one of the area managers and her significant other, the director of the festival and the wife of the leader of the Romani.

It was actually a potluck style feast.  We provided the barbecue and the buns.  But the guests brought everything else.

All of our acts were put into a basket.  We had our songs.  We had a gypsy belly dance lesson, and a mad libs story time.  We had a joke off.  We had a wonderful time! I’ll leave you know with some pictures of our time, but please understand that I haven’t had the time to even edit any of them.  It’s been insane.  But it’s been fun!
