Recruiting Party

So this is the first in a series about the Kansas City Renaissance Festival.  You can find all of the posts here.

Date night.  It was Friday night.  Dale and I were trying to have a date night every week.  It was just by happenstance that I managed to see the Renaissance Festival post that they were having a recruiting party.  I asked Dale if we could go, just to see what it was all about.  He agreed.

It was set up in a church that is fairly local to our house.  There were tables with all of the different areas that are a part of the festival.  There was food.  There were a LOT of people.  We walked around a bit not really knowing what to do.  (I’m in this picture in the top right hand corner where it’s too dark to see anything but Dale’s jacket.)10959727_10152701099042058_1083762246149714286_n

Then there was a talk about what all is required for the festival.  The area managers were introduced.  And then… the king and queen were introduced.10959239_10152701101032058_4588852032768134612_n

I was amazed at how welcoming every one was, how connected everyone seemed to be.  I knew I wanted to come back.

There was a second recruiting party, where we talked about what was required in the audition process, and had a practice audition.  We also learned about all the desired characters that the director wanted, and what was required from each.

In short, the recruiting parties were informational, “we want you” type events.

And it worked.
