Happy Father’s Day – I am not giving up

I am home from camp.  Tired but blessed.  It was so much fun.  And while I did have some internet connection while I was there, it was more important that I took time off and truly focused on the children.

Today is Father’s Day.  I lost my daddy this year.  Dale lost his dad in 2003.  It brings a bit of heartache that I can’t call him today and talk to him.  I felt like I had just started to figure out how to handle the new “normal.”   I could go on and on about how much it hurts, how much I miss him.

Instead, I choose to focus on Dale.  He is a good daddy.  He loves the girls, he loves me.  He has tucked in both daughters every night that he can.  He loves to make us laugh.  And he is a great provider.  Happy Father’s Day to one of the best men I have ever known.

I’ve made it through almost 6 months of gratitude.  As of June 11th, I’ve counted 557 blessings.  We’re under a lot of stress with Dale’s job.  I’m busy, I’m tired, I’m cranky, and yes, I am behind.  But I am not giving up.  Maybe I will post once a week.  Hopefully, I can post once a day when I do get caught up.  But I refuse to stop being thankful.

I realize that some of these might seem fairly vague.  If you ever have a question as to what something means to me, please ask.  There is a lot that I don’t say.  But since this blog is more for me than anyone else, I don’t always explain.  Please let me know if you want to know “the rest of the story.”
