FMF – World

It feels like forever since I’ve linked up with Kate for Five Minute Friday, but in reality, it’s only been 2 weeks.  It’s amazing how one small group of people that I’ve never met in real life (at least not yet) can come to mean the world to me.  Oh hey!  It’s the prompt for the week.  WORLD.

GO:

Stop the world I want to get off!

Life has been a crazy hurricane since the end of April.  But Monday, I will be taking time to stop and get away from the world for a little bit.

I’m headed to summer camp as the photographer.

It’s a great way to stop and take some time enjoying God’s world and His word.  It’s a great retreat for me, and I’m finding myself more and more excited to leave.

The theme for this year is “I Know.”  I keep humming the song, “For I know whom I have believed….”  And if I don’t hear Psalm 46:10 quoted at least once, I’ll be shocked.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”

But one of the reasons I’m excited is because I’m going to be setting up a photo booth of sorts this year.  I’ve got all sorts of props, and I really want the young girls to see how beautiful they really are.  I want them to see themselves with the love that God sees them with.  I want them to know the truth of Psalm 139:13-14 deep in their hearts.

For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.

I may be only the photographer, but this is what I want to teach them, so that they can ignore what the world teaches them about beauty.

So, I may not be around next week, because the world has stopped for me for just a minute.  Keep the kids in your prayers, okay?

STOP

Hugs,
Melinda

    • Thank you. I’ve been absolutely swamped with Festival and camp preparations. I actually am getting to camp late because I’ve got rehearsal Saturday and Sunday. But thank you. (I wish Windows Phone had that Echo Prayer app or something similar.)

      “See” you in two weeks. 🙂

  2. Ah, this is awesome! How cool of you to love on these kids in a unique way. How cool of you to go and capture their moments and memories. I pray that this is a time of joy and refreshment for you and for all who attend. May God be glorified and you get some rest!
